Native captions or burned-in captions?
TikTok supports auto-generated captions and lets creators edit them. Its creator captions also provide editing and styling within the app. Those may be sufficient if you work entirely in TikTok.
Use a burned-in export when you want the same visual treatment across platforms. Before publishing, check how any native caption track appears alongside your embedded text so two layers do not cover the subject.
Make captions readable beside TikTok’s controls
Leave room for the action buttons at the right and the account and description area below. Longer descriptions and different devices change what is visible, so test inside the app rather than trusting a fixed safe-zone diagram.
For a quick demonstration, avoid placing the next spoken instruction over the hand performing it. Moving the caption block slightly above the action can be more useful than making the text larger.
