This page covers speech-following captions for videos. A lyric video with singing, backing vocals and instruments is a harder transcription problem and needs a separate timing review.
The practical difference from a one-word reveal is context: viewers can see the phrase while the highlight follows the voice.

When a moving highlight helps
Try it for a short explanation, language practice or an instructional voiceover where the phrase should remain available to read. Keep the inactive words visible enough that the highlight is not the only readable part.
For example, “Keep your camera level” should still read as an instruction before the highlight reaches “level”.
Speech captions are not a finished lyric-timing service
Sung vowels, repeated syllables and overlapping vocals can produce inaccurate words or timing. Listen through every line of a music clip and correct it before publishing.

Can I use this for a song?
You can try it, but singing and layered music need careful manual review. Do not assume speech transcription will deliver accurate lyric timing.
Is karaoke the same as one word at a time?
No. Karaoke typically keeps the phrase visible and changes the active word. A one-word reveal shows words progressively or individually.
Does an SRT carry the effect?
No. Export the captioned video to preserve the animated highlighting.
