Your video never uploads

Submagic is a good product, and if it’s working for you there’s no particular reason to move. The creators who go looking for an alternative tend to arrive with two specific complaints: what a dollar subscription does to an Indian card, and what happens when the video isn’t in English. Most tools in this category price in dollars and meter output in credits, which quietly turns every re-render and every change of mind into a cost.

CaptionCandy is built the other way round. Plans are priced in rupees and start at ₹199/month, exports are free and unlimited on every plan including free, and minutes are only ever spent on premium Candy Ultra transcription. Hindi and Hinglish sit next to English as languages tuned end to end, not as two entries on a long dropdown. And your video file is never uploaded — only the extracted audio travels, and only with Candy Ultra.

Priced in rupees, not converted into them

Creator is ₹199/month, or ₹166/month billed annually. Pro is ₹999/month, or ₹832/month billed annually. No conversion maths, no working out what this month’s renewal actually came to.

You never pay to re-render

Exports are free and unlimited on every plan. Try ten styles, export all ten, change one colour and export again — the cost doesn’t move. Minutes go on Candy Ultra transcription and nothing else.

Hindi and Hinglish are first-class

Hindi outputs real Devanagari. Hinglish comes back in Roman script with code-switching handled as normal speech. Both are tuned end to end alongside English, with 40+ other languages supported.

Your footage never travels

There’s no upload step for your video at all. Large files start immediately instead of climbing your connection first, and client footage stays on your side of the line.

How it works

01

Bring the video you were about to caption

The free plan gives you 5 minutes of Candy Ultra and 30 minutes of Candy Lite every month, with all 95 styles unlocked from the first clip.

02

Compare on your own footage

Style it, read the transcript, see how it handled your accent and your Hindi. That’s a fairer test than anybody’s comparison table, this one included.

03

Export as often as you like

Free exports are 1080p with a small corner watermark. Creator and Pro remove it, add 4K, and raise the per-video limit to 30 and 90 minutes.

Common questions

Should I actually switch?

Not automatically. If you post in English, you’re comfortable with what you pay, and your workflow is settled, switching buys you very little. It’s worth a look if you caption in Hindi or Hinglish, if paying in dollars is a nuisance on an Indian card, if you re-render often enough that metered exports have started shaping how you edit, or if handing client footage to a server is a problem for you. The free plan answers all of that on your own videos before you commit to anything.

How does the pricing compare?

We won’t quote anyone else’s numbers — plans change and they bundle different things, so a figure here would be out of date or unfair or both. What we can state is ours: Creator ₹199/month or ₹166 billed annually, Pro ₹999/month or ₹832 billed annually, and a free plan that doesn’t expire. The structural difference matters more than the headline anyway — exports aren’t metered here, so what you spend doesn’t depend on how many times you rendered.

Is the style library comparable?

95 caption styles, 21 of them full-frame kinetic typography scenes rather than a line of text along the bottom. All of them are unlocked on the free plan — style choice isn’t the thing you upgrade for. Timing is word-level throughout, with one keyword per line highlighted automatically and a star to override it when the automatic pick is wrong.

What would I lose by moving?

Anything Submagic does that isn’t described on this site — their product is broader in places, so check your own must-haves against our feature list before you cancel a subscription. CaptionCandy is deliberately narrow: transcribe, style, burn in or export subtitles, with English, Hindi and Hinglish done properly and your video never uploaded. If your workflow leans on things outside that scope, run both for a month and keep whichever earns it.
